Kaburaki Kiyokata was a pupil of Mizuno Toshikata, and by his teenage years, he was already active as a professional illustrator.
In his youth, he became acquainted with Izumi Kyōka and produced illustrations for his works. Influenced by this relationship and by his own childhood environment, Kiyokata remained deeply connected throughout his life to Edo sensibilities and the aesthetic ideals of ukiyo-e.
He also devoted himself to original paintings (nikuhitsu-ga) and is regarded as one of Japan’s foremost painters of bijin-ga. Shopping Guide & Information
