This series is Hiroshige's posthumous work, published in 1858. While Hokusai's preceding "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji" pursued a powerful form and expansive landscape through horizontal illustrations, Hiroshige's use of vertical illustrations contrasts this as it gently expresses the depth of space, the flow of air, and the "sense of place" itself. The juxtaposition between the softly colored Mount Fuji and the bustling teahouse in the foreground evokes a sense of nostalgia and quiet emotion in the viewer. Shopping Guide & Information
