夢の中、山岡鉄舟の前に現れた西郷隆盛、桐野利秋、篠原国幹の霊魂たちを描いた作品。鉄舟は明治18年に施餓鬼（せがき）という供養の行事を催しており、西郷らの眼差しには感謝の念が宿っているようにも見える。
国直二代は国貞の門人で、作画期は明治16年から20年と短く、手掛けた作品も少ない。

This work depicts the spirits of Saigo Takamori, Kirino Toshiaki, and Shinohara Kunimoto, who appeared in Yamaoka Tesshu's dream. Tesshu held a memorial service called "Segaki" in 1885. The eyes of Saigo and others seem to be filled with gratitude.
Kuninao II was a pupil of Kunisada. His painting period was short, from 1883 to 1887, and he produced small numbers of prints.
