歌舞伎演目を元にした1枚。心ならずも人を殺してしまった関取の濡髪蝶五郎は、母に一目会いに忍びやってきた。しかし母には義理の息子がおり、偶然にも濡髪を捕縛する役目を負っていた。実の子と義理の子の板挟みとなった母と、互いの立場を思う息子たちが、人の世の義理と情愛の狭間で葛藤する、心に染みる家族の物語。

「侠客」とは、「弱きを助け、強きを挫く」事を信条にして任侠に生きる漢たちの呼び名である。単なる「ヤクザ者」や「無法者」とは異なり、「己の中の正義」を持つ者がこのように呼ばれる。
梨園侠客伝は歌舞伎に登場する侠客のシリーズ。

豊国三代は豊国の門人で、まず国貞と名乗り,
天保15年には豊国二代を称した。（実際には豊国三代）
作画期が長く、その作品の量も膨大なものになっている。特に役者絵・美人画等の人物の描写に定評があり、当時の浮世絵界を風靡するほどの勢いと力を持っていた。

The fugitive Nuregami secretly visits his mother for a final reunion before he disappears. She is shocked to realize that he is the very one being sought by her stepson, a local official. She is torn between her real child and stepchild, who themselves are forced to choose between duty and compassion.

侠客 is the name of a group of men who live chivalrously with the principle of "helping the weak and discouraging the strong. The term "chivalrous" is used to describe those who have "justice within themselves," as opposed to mere "yakuza" or "outlaws.
Story of a Chivalrous Man in the Theatrical World is a series of kabuki plays about chivalrous.

Toyokuni III was a pupil of Toyokuni and took the name Kunisada. He took the name Toyokuni II in 1844. (In reality, Toyokuni III was the third generation of Toyokuni.) His painting period was long, and the volume of his works was enormous. He was especially known for his portrayals of actors and beautiful women, and he had the power and vigor to dominate the ukiyo-e world at that time.
