気持ち良く晴れた朝、韓国の伝統的な民族衣装に身を包んだ二人は、うわさ話に花を咲かせているようだ。
女性の頭の鮮やかな装飾にあしらわれているのは「五方色」と呼ばれる5色で、中国の五行の考え方からくる韓国の伝統的な色彩である。

エリザベスキースはスコットランドに生まれ、独学で水彩画などを描いた。大正4年、28歳となったキースは姉を訪ね初来日。そこで日本の風景や風俗が実に絵画的であることに惹かれ、浮世絵の技法を学んだ。
以降9年間に及んだ長期滞在期間中と、昭和4～8年に再来日をした際に、日本を始め、朝鮮、中国、シンガポール、フィリピン、東南アジアなどを旅行し、各国の風景や人々の極めてありふれた日常を木版画におこし、100点以上の作品を残している。

On a beautiful sunny morning, two women who are dressed in traditional Korean native costumes are gossiping.
The bright decoration on the women's heads is called 'Obangsaek' and is decorated with traditional Korean colors derived from the Chinese concept of the five elements.

Elizabeth Keith was born in Scotland and studied painting by herself.
In 1915, when Keith was 28 years old, she visited Japan to see her old sister, and then, she was attracted to Japanese landscapes and cultures and started to learn Ukiyo-e.
She had spent in Japan for 9 years since that year and returned to Japan with her old sister from 1929 to 1933. Then she had traveled around Asia and created more than 100 artworks whose motifs are common scenery in the days.
