川柳点とは、川柳の創始者・柄井川柳（からいせんりゅう）が応募作の中から選んだ点数の高い句を印刷し入選者に配った刷り物であり、寺社仏閣に奉納するのが流行っていた。江戸時代に病気を治す仏、薬師如来の山として信仰を集めてた高尾山にも奉納し、こうした額は庶民の作詩熱を物語る。
国明二代は豊国三代の門人で、初代国明の弟でもある。
役者絵、相撲絵、風俗画等を多く手掛け、初代の活動期が江戸で終わるのに対し、二代目は明治以降も活躍した。

A senryu-ten was a printed document containing high-scoring senryu poems selected by Karai Senryu, the founder of senryu poetry, and distributed to the winners. It was popular to dedicate these to temples and shrines. During the Edo period, some were even dedicated to Mount Takao, which was revered as the mountain of Yakushi Nyorai, the Buddha who heals illnesses. These plaques speak to the passion for poetry among ordinary people.
KuniakiⅡwas a pupil of Toyokuni III and also the younger brother of KuniakiⅠ. He produced a wide range of works, including actor prints, sumo prints, and scenes of everyday life.
While Kuniaki was active during the Edo period, KuniakiⅡ continued to work well into the Meiji era.
