このシリーズは広重が没した安政5年に出版された遺作であるが、先行する北斎の『富嶽三十六景』が横絵で力強い造形と土地の広がりを追求したのに対し、広重は縦絵を用いることで空間の奥行きや大気の動き、そしてその場所の持つ「空気感」を優しく表現しているのが大きな魅力である。淡い色彩で描かれた富士山と、手前の茶屋の賑わいとの対比が、見る者にどこか懐かしく静かな感動を与えてくれる。

This series is Hiroshige's posthumous work, published in 1858. While Hokusai's preceding "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji" pursued a powerful form and expansive landscape through horizontal illustrations, Hiroshige's use of vertical illustrations contrasts this as it gently expresses the depth of space, the flow of air, and the "sense of place" itself. The juxtaposition between the softly colored Mount Fuji and the bustling teahouse in the foreground evokes a sense of nostalgia and quiet emotion in the viewer.
