笠松紫浪は清方の門人で、大正8年に渡辺版画店から新版画「青嵐」を第一作として発表し、昭和16年までに数10点の木版画を制作、新版画の旗手として活躍した。
昭和27年から昭和35年にかけては、芸艸堂から風景版画を100点近く発表した。
また、自刻自摺による創作版画も制作しており、分業制の作品とはまた違った趣のある多くの秀作を残した。

Kasamatsu Shiro is a pupil of Kiyokata. He released a Shinhanga "Seiran" from Watanabe Print Shop as the first work in 1919 and produced lots of woodblock prints afterward. From 1952 to 1960, he released nearly 100 landscape prints from Unso-do.
He was also interested in the Sosaku Hanga, self-carve and self-printed prints, and he left many excellent works.
