Harunobu played a decisive role in the birth of multicolored nishiki-e prints and had a profound influence on the later development of ukiyo-e. He gained great popularity for his delicate and charming beautiful women. The number of his surviving works is estimated to be around 1,000. Compared to later popular ukiyo-e artists, the number of remaining prints per design is relatively small, and many of his major works are held overseas.
