This work is a Genji-e (Genji pictures) depicting a subject from the Tale of Genji. The Tale of Genji was written in Heian-era, but Genji-e was produced in the Edo era, and the characters are depicted in the fashions and manners of the Edo period.
KunisadaⅡ is a pupil of Kunisada and took the name KunimasaⅡ in 1850. However, in 1852, the name was written down as KunisadaⅡ. When Toyokuni III died in 1864, he took the name Toyokuni IV around 1870. Shopping Guide & Information of the Japanese Prints
