激しく浸食された特徴的な岩が目をひくこの作品は、石川県能登地方にある能登金剛の風景を描いた作品。能登金剛は江戸時代も同地方の景勝地として人気があった。この奇妙な風景を生むのは、日本海の荒波である。約30kmに亘って奇岩、奇勝、断崖が連続している。
能登金剛の「金剛」は朝鮮半島有数の景勝地である「金剛山」にちなんで名付けられた。金剛山は現在の北朝鮮に位置している。

「六十余州名所図会」（ろくじゅうよしゅうめいしょずえ）は、広重による日本全国の名所を描いたシリーズ。
全図とも画面は縦長で、前景を大きく描き遠近を強調するなど、斬新な構図がとられている。

This artwork with attractive and eccentric rocks is a depiction of Noto-Kongo which is placed in Ishikawa prefecture.
Noto-Kongo is famous for sightseeing even in Edo-period. The rocks had been made by the raging waves of the Nihon-kai sea.
The name "Kongo" comes from the "Mt. Kumgang" in North Korea, where it was a scenic spot in Korea.

"Famous Places in the 60-Odd Provinces" is a series by Hiroshige depicting famous places throughout Japan.
All of the works are vertically oriented, with innovative compositions such as a large foreground and emphasis on perspective.
