こちらは春画本3冊の揃い。春画は主に受注制作であったため、絵師・彫師・摺師のこだわりや技巧が凝らされた完成度の高い作品が多い。

柳川重信は北斎の門人で、江戸の本所柳川町に住んでいたことから柳川を称した。作画期は文化から天保の頃にかけてで、「南総里見八犬伝」などの読み本の挿絵、浮世絵、肉筆美人画を制作した。文政5年から翌年春ごろまで大坂に行き、「東都柳川重信」という署名で浪花名所の風景画を描いた。また役者絵も描き、上方絵の絵師らに影響を与え大坂の地で門弟を育てている。

This is A set of three shunga books. Since Shunga was mainly made to order, the painters, engravers, and printers elaborated their techniques.

Yanagawa Shigenobu was a student of Hokusai. He lived in Honjo Yanagawa-cho, Edo (now Tokyo), and took the name Yanagawa, the same as the place's name. He produced illustrations for books such as Nanso Satomi Hakkenden, Ukiyo-e, and paintings of beautiful women. From Bunsei 5 to the spring of the following year, he traveled to Osaka and painted landscapes of famous places in Osaka under the signature 'Toto Yanagawa Shigenobu.' He also painted yakusha-e (portraits of Kabuki actors), influenced painters of the Kamigata School, and trained pupils in Osaka.
