春潮の描く美人は気品に満ち、仕草の一つ一つが魅力的。
本作には、20世紀初頭の著名な宝石商、アンリ・ヴェヴェールのコレクター印が押されている。
ヴェヴェールのコレクションは非常に質が良く高く評価されており、東京国立博物館にも多く収蔵されている。

春潮は春章の門人で、役者絵を得意とした一派であるが、清長風の優艶な美人画を描き力作を残した。天明後期の頃になると、あでやかな美人画を多数描き、その人気を清長と二分した。

Shuncho's depictions of women are full of elegance and each gesture is charming.
This artwork has the collector's seal of Henri Vever (1854-1942), a prominent jeweler of the early 20th century.
Vever's collection is of very high quality and highly valued, and many of his works added to the collection at the Tokyo National Museum.

Shuncho is a student of Shunsho, and although he is a group specializing in actor painting, he left a masterpiece by drawing graceful beauty in the Kiyonaga style. End of the 1780s, he drew much gorgeous beauty and divided his popularity with Kiyonaga.
