皇国二十四功は明治13-20年に出版された連作。国家の忠臣を並べたものではなく、古今に渡って功をなした人物を描いたもので、上部に戯作者である柳亭種彦による解説が記載されている。芳年独特の解釈が加えられている作品もある。

It is not an artwork of loyal retainers of the nation, but rather a figure of a person who has been successful over the ages and years, and a commentary by the playwright Ryutei Tanehiko is written at the top. Some works have a unique interpretation of Yoshitoshi.
