雪に包まれた東京・芝公園の静かな冬景色を描いた作品。白く雪化粧した境内と木々の間に、ひとりの人物が歩む姿を小さく配し、降り積もった雪の静けさと、冬の朝の澄んだ空気を感じさせる。巴水は、東京という都市の中に残る寺社や公園の風景を、季節の移ろいとともに詩情豊かに描き出した。本作は1953年のPacific Transport Linesのカレンダーのために制作され、アメリカで配布された12点の作品のうち1月を飾った一図である。
