耕漁は芳年、月耕および松本楓湖の門人。明治23年に日本美術協会に「反魂香図」を出品して褒状を受け、その後も同展にて幾度も受賞した。明治27年頃より浮世絵も手がけ、能を題材とした作品を数多く制作。
耕漁の能楽画は、水彩画を思わせる表情を持つ。透明感のある背景、上質な和紙、そして丁寧に施された金銀泥などにより、優美で洗練された作品となっている。

Kōgyo was a pupil of Yoshitoshi, Gekkō, and Matsumoto Fūko. He received a commendation from the Japan Art Association in 1890 and continued to exhibit there with success. In 1894, he also began producing ukiyo-e prints, many of them depicting subjects from Noh. His Noh prints possess a delicate, watercolor-like quality. Softly colored backgrounds, fine Japanese papers, and carefully applied pigments, including gold and silver pigments, combine to create an elegant and refined atmosphere.
